The Cold Open was originally supposed to be Monday Night Football reaction to the Browns QB competition. Thanks to Johnny Manziel it morphed into his antics. During the game Johnny Football became Johnny Finger. He flipped the bird at the Redskins sidelines. Mike Pettine is not exactly thrilled with this. DA says every QB loses his composure. They may not give the finger, but they still verbally say the same thing that it means in defenders in the face all the time. From Tom Brady to Peyton Manning, they all have done it.
Mike Pettine had been painted into a corner. He wanted to name a starter after this Monday Night game, before their 3rd preseason game. However, Hoyer and Manziel both did not go out there and earn the job. Pettine’s inexperience as a head coach has now shown itself. He had hoped for a clean and easy solution to this QB situation and instead he now has everything but that.
DA’s champs on the night are the Washington Nationals. While the country was locked into the Browns and Redskins, the Nationals quietly won their 7th straight game. This, the 3rd straight won on a walk-ff. Watch out for the Nats, they are a legitimate World Series contender.
DA’s chump is Joe Mixon. The Oklahoma Sooners freshman runningback was suspended for the year after he punched a woman in the face. This brings DA back to the Ray Rice incident. The Sooners did the right thing suspending Mixon for the year, while the NFL continues to look lame for their light suspension of Rice. The NFL could have been the leader in handling these situations the right way, instead the colleges are picking up the pieces and doing the right thing.
The Epic Fail today didn’t actually occur on the show. Our very own Peter Schwartz is on vacation this week. However, on Saturday he took some shots on an interview on WFAN in New York. Former NY Jets Superfan Fireman Ed joined WFAN and had several comments bashing Schwartzo. The quotes were harsh, they are your epic fail.
