The Tennessee Titans, as of now, have the No. 1 pick in this year’s NFL Draft, but they might not have it when the draft rolls around on April 28.
Indeed, it’s possible that Tennessee, which has gone 5-27 over the last two seasons, may try to trade down.
“I think that when you look at the Titans and the needs that they have almost at every position, why not?” Nashville-based CBS 560 host Johnny “Ballpark” Franks said on CBS Sports Radio’s The DA Show. “With the combine coming up next week, I hope Jared Goff performs well and I hope Carson Wentz performs well, especially to the point where Cleveland – certainly in the need of a quarterback – (could move up).”
The Browns, who went 3-13 last year, have the No. 2 pick in the draft.
“Everybody’s thinking about all the other teams that could leapfrog Cleveland,” Franks said. “Hey, what’s wrong with Cleveland? I think it’d be great if the Titans could change places with Cleveland and get their No. 2 pick as far as their second round pick, which is the No. 1 overall pick in the second round (33rd overall). I think that would be an ideal situation for the Tennessee Titans.”
The Titans appear to have their quarterback in Marcus Mariota. Aside from that, they need a lot of help.
But what’s their biggest need right now?
“If you look at how last year played out, the big goal when Mike Mularkey was named interim head coach – the No. 1 goal – was to protect Marcus Mariota,” Franks said. “So if that is still the theme, I would say start with the offensive line. Start with offensive tackle.”
