Lisa Ramos just wanted to visit her friend at MTV.
Instead, she wound up getting a job – not to mention nearly a half million followers on Instagram.
“A funny story,” the 26-year-old Ramos said on CBS Sports Radio’s The DA Show. “I wasn’t even looking to be on (Guy Code) to audition, but I went to visit my friend, Melanie (Iglesias), on set. She did Season 1 by herself. And then a week after I visited, they were like, ‘Hey, do you want to be on the show?’ I was like, ‘Are you serious?’”
“I just wanted to say hi because I was living in Miami at the time,” said Ramos, who joined Guy Code in 2011. “After that, they were just like, ‘Hey, we want you on the show.’ I was like, ‘Okay, sure, that was easy.’”
There was no audition. There was no screen test. There was nothing.
“They were just like, ‘Come in for a meeting and we’ll talk about what you’re going to do,’” Ramos recalled. “That was it. I was talking a lot when I was there, so they knew that I would be a good fit. I guess that was my audition, my interview.”
Ramos, who studied English and health science in college, had no experience hosting on radio or television. She said she “had no idea” what she was going to do after college.
Then MTV happened.
“I was going to be a dietician, which, thank God didn’t happen because now everybody on Instagram is a dietician,” Ramos said. “So yeah, everything just worked out.”
