The DA Show Weekly Rewind 3/7-3/11

NICK MCDEVITT – 3/8/16
UNC Asheville head coach

“We show them film of how we play, how we see them fitting in (with) what we do and the style of play we’re going to play on both ends of the floor. That’s something they kind of know before they get on campus. That’s how we’re going to win games – or the way we’re going to try to win games.”

ANDREW BILLINGS – 3/8/16
NFL prospect

“He’s a hard worker every play. When it comes to the run game, he stops that edge from moving. It works out for me. That’s really how I came with so many tackles for losses. They had nowhere to go.”

REID FORGRAVE – 3/9/16
Fox Sports 1 college basketball analyst

“I don’t think they’re going to win (a national title) this year, but they’re among the teams that could. And if they do, it’ll be because Grayson Allen is the Most Outstanding Player of the tournament and goes for 30 points three different times.”

DOUGLAS FREELAND – 3/9/16
McDonald’s High School All-American Game director

“Years ago when they would come to the McDonald’s game a lot of them were meeting for the first time. Now they know each other very, very well from all of the summer ball and all the publicity. As you know the high school basketball, high school sports in general have really taken off over the last 5, 6, 7 years. There’s a lot of familiarity with these players amongst each other and it makes for more heated competition to say the least. Especially, some of our practice sessions, for example the closed scrimmage the day before the games is a very intense scrimmage because you have NBA scouts in the audience.”

DAVE LOOS – 3/10/16
Austin Peay head coach

“I think when something like this really happens, you find out exactly how many good people there are in the world – and not just here. My son is an assistant coach at the University of Missouri and Rhyan’s dad. The support there has been overwhelming. This thing has really almost caught on nationally. It’s been unbelievable.”

BRYCE DREW – 3/10/16
Valparaiso head coach

“It’s so hard for teams at our level to even be in this situation. I think we’re the only team on the bubble that’s played more road games this year than home games. Usually teams will play only a couple road games before they get into conference. Again, more than half of our games have been on the road. So obviously the parity is out there. I think at the end of the day, fans get excited to see the Valpos, the Monmouths. I think if they had the tournament in Dayton, those First Four, if they’d put Monmouth against a BCS (team) and Valpo against a BCS, I would say those two games would probably be as watched as any of those first-round games practically.”
