Bleacher Report lead SEC writer

“They’re beatable. They lost games. They’ve lost games in each of the last couple national title seasons. I think the interesting thing is how consistently will Jalen Hurts keep his composure in situations that are sub-optimal? He did a good job of that in Oxford. Does that mean he’s going to do it every time? Absolutely not. But so far, so good. I think A&M probably is the best shot because of where that game falls on the schedule.”

Former NFL offensive lineman

“I don’t recommend it. I think it’s okay if owners meet with the players. That’s their prerogative. It’s their organization. But I think they should let the coach know they’re doing it. I don’t think the coach has a right to be there. He can like it or not, but the bottom line is, that’s your boss. If you’re Rex Ryan, your boss are the owners of the Buffalo Bills. The only problem I would have if I was a coach is they did it without communicating to me. I don’t think that’s good protocol. But if it’s communicated properly, they have every right to do it. Knock yourself out.”

AJ HAWK – 9/20/16
Former Packers LB

“They did such a good job of getting pressure on him. Aaron wasn’t able to step into a lot of his throws. Even if they weren’t getting sacks, they were pushing the pocket where he couldn’t step into those throws pretty much all night. But yeah, anytime you turn the ball over, it’s tough to win a game on the road like that. But I think it’s like anything. They just need to get reps and get their timing back together. Jordy was out all year. Even though he and Jordy are super close on and off the field, I think it’ll take a little bit of time for them (to get back on track).”

TOM HERMAN – 9/20/16
Houston head coach

“Certainly this year’s team beating Oklahoma – Oklahoma’s got better talent than we do top to bottom, and I’d argue that Cincinnati is one of the most talented teams in our league. To win games like that, what separates programs, to me, it’s been a genuine love throughout the team and it’s been a love between players and player-to-player, coach-to-coach and certainly coach-to-player. We love our guys maybe – not maybe – I would argue more than any other staff, any other program in America. We dive into their lives. We know their girlfriends, we know their parents, we know the ins and outs of their lives.”

“There’s no threat. There’s no imminent threat of danger. He’s going to be under pressure. He’s going to be under stressful situations. Come on, man. We could go right now. We could get the University of Louisville or Houston, and they could beat the Browns.”

GLEN MASON – 9/21/16
Big Ten Network analyst

“You start with the quarterback. I think Wilton Speight has done a great job at Michigan, but J.T. Barrett (is) a proven winner. He can run that offense. When you talk about a team that is rushing the ball for over 300 yards a game – and their starting tailback, Mike Weber, is contributing to about 110 of that – they’ve got a lot of weapons. All the things are in place to really stretch the defense.”

JUDY BATTISTA – 9/22/16 columnist

“It’s just a mess. And then firing his offensive coordinator a day after the defense clearly blew the game. It’s not pretty. And certainly when you hear the reports that the owners are meeting with players without Rex being there – boy, that’s a red flag.”
